Now is a great time to consider ways to increase your physical activity. While I recommend getting adequate physical activity all year round, the warmer weather may inspire you to go outside and get more active.
Here are a few activities to consider:
- Go for a walk or a bike ride: With more sunlight in the day, taking an evening stroll or bike ride with friends or family could be fun.
- Play a sport: Tennis, pickleball, hiking and golf are popular outdoor activities that can be fun for your whole family to enjoy. Try making it competitive or simply keeping it fun – either way will give you an increase in your physical activity for the day. Whenever it’s possible and appropriate, remember to adhere to social distancing guidelines and wear a mask.
- Take your fitness class outdoors: When COVID-19 hit, at-home workouts suddenly became the norm and many turned to virtual wellness in the form of streaming live and pre-recorded classes. Now that the weather is warming up, I recommend taking your yoga mat and workout equipment outside. A new environment and the fresh air may leave you feeling even more motivated!
With cold and gloomy days rapidly passing by us, getting outside in the warmer weather is a great idea. My prescription would be a big dose of fresh air and some physical activity. No matter how much you move, any physical activity is better than none!
