AmeriHealth New Jersey provides consumer health plan options for NJ residents for the ninth consecutive year

Cranbury, NJ — October 28, 2021 — When open enrollment for individuals begins on Monday, November 1, New Jersey residents can choose from 15 different AmeriHealth New Jersey health plans for 2022. The plans consist of 14 HMOs and EPOs across the Bronze, Silver and Gold metallic tiers, as well as a catastrophic option.

“We have been consistently offering individual health plans for New Jersey residents since the federally facilitated marketplace first opened,” said AmeriHealth New Jersey Market President Mike Munoz. “We continue to provide comprehensive health insurance options along with personalized service for our members.”

For 2021 New Jersey transitioned to a state-based exchange, Get Covered New Jersey. All New Jersey residents are required to have health care coverage, and consumers who purchase or renew a health plan through Get Covered New Jersey may be eligible for a state-based subsidy, in addition to the existing federal subsidy.

For 2022, AmeriHealth New Jersey’s Silver AmeriHealth Advantage EPO $45/40% Advantage plan is the lowest cost Silver plan on the state-based exchange in 13 of New Jersey’s 21 counties. In addition, AmeriHealth New Jersey offers the lowest cost Bronze plans in 13 of the state’s 21 counties, on and off the exchange. “We’re committed to the New Jersey marketplace, striving to offer affordable options to our residents,” said Munoz. “With that goal in mind, we provide a wide range of plans that offer comprehensive coverage at rates that ensure a sustainable market in New Jersey.”

Off exchange plans offer affordable alternatives

New Jersey residents also have the option of purchasing a health plan off exchange directly from AmeriHealth New Jersey, which offers cost-saving alternatives. There are 15 plans available off exchange, including two plans in the Select Suite that provide a ten percent savings compared to similar on-exchange plans. AmeriHealth New Jersey’s off exchange Select Suite of plans are some of the most affordable options in the Silver tier. Off-exchange health plans are not subsidy eligible.

Regardless of whether health care coverage is purchased on or off exchange, individuals are encouraged to make health plan selections by November 30, 2021, to ensure ID card delivery by January 1, 2022. All members (new and current) will receive ID cards.
